CERTIFIED CIVIL TRIAL ATTORNEY

The Supreme Court of New Jersey established board certification to help consumers find attorneys who have a recognized level of competence in particular fields of law. A Certified Civil Trial Attorney is more than just an attorney who specializes in a particular area of the law. An attorney who is certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Civil Trial Attorney must:

• be a member in good standing of the New Jersey Bar for at least five years;
• demonstrate a substantial level of skill and experience in civil trial law;
• be positively evaluated by judges and attorneys with whom the attorney has had cases and are familiar with his work, ability, and character;
• complete a mandatory number of trials in the State of New Jersey;
• pass a written examination in civil trial law; and
• fulfill ongoing continuing legal education requirements
